How can I prevent my car stereo from picking up engine noise?

My car stereo intermittently picks up my engine noise. It is often triggered by hitting a bump, but there is no clear pattern to the interference. I reattachd and tightened all the connectors to the amp in the trunk, but that didn't solve the problem. What could be causing the noise? It's aggrivating to hear the whine of my engine accelarating when I'm jamming on the highway. Any advice or answers would be appreciated. Thanks. How can I prevent my car stereo from picking up engine noise?
what u need to do is check for any loose wire from a speaker or your ground cable its not well conected
Have you checked the cables to your spark plugs? They may need to be upgraded. How can I prevent my car stereo from picking up engine noise?
Check the power lead to the radio it might need to be tightened, but you will probably need to put a signal blocker in the power lead (a capacitor) to capture the signal from the engine. You should be able to get one at any electronics store, like Radio Shack.
Did you hard wire the stereo deck to the original harness? If so you should try to put the original stereo connections back into it and pick up a wirring harness adapter for your make and model car. Your problem is normally associated with hard wirring a deck with butt connectors/or splices.

Your problem is a loose/or bad ground. Try Checking your ground connections. Including your battery terminal connections and your Alternator connections.

Sometimes when an alternator goes bad it can also produce this problem with a stereo.

But I still think your ground is bad.

And adding a power cap. would still be a wise idea no matter what the problem is. It will prevent your battery from draining to quickly and ease the amount of stress on your alternator. How can I prevent my car stereo from picking up engine noise?
A simple loose connection can cause noise. I've tightened up grounds and got rid of noises before.

If it happens more when you hit a bump, it IS a loose connection somewhere.

Also, do you have a Pioneer stereo? If so, e-mail me and i'll show you the ONLY way to get rid of the noise.

Good Luck!
