How do I fix my car stereo that cuts off at high volume?

My car stereo was installed last year, and rats had eaten out all the wire. The guy who replaced it said my stereo gave out enough power and bypassed the amplifiers for each speaker, running them directly to the stereo. Now when I turn up my car more that a moderate volume, my entire stereo shuts off and restarts and I need to turn it down really quick to stop it from happening again.

How do I fix this? How much will it cost? How do I fix my car stereo that cuts off at high volume?
It shuts off to protect itself from your excessive power. Take it to a professional or don't turn it up so loud. I don't know what is not matched up power wise but something isn't. I'll guess and say the bypass of the amps is the issue. How do I fix my car stereo that cuts off at high volume?
This happens to me allot, the reason your stereo is turning off is because it needs a minimum amount of power (about 12 volts) to stay on and since you disconnected your amp your speakers are drawing too much power from your stereo therefore causing it to not have enough power for itself and to turn off. You should hook your amp back up or get a power capacitor for you stereo.
